Sins of the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Dark Hunter #12 St. Martin's Paperback, July 2005, Rating: A

We're starting to get down to the nitty gritty in SINS OF THE NIGHT. We meet one of the first Dark-Hunter's in Alexion who is no longer a Dark-Hunter. Because of him, the Dark-Hunter's have the out clause of being able to get their soul back for true love. Unfortunately, in his case, his true love wasn't that at all and she was unwilling to return his soul to him, leaving him in a shade's existence. Acheron was not happy with that and was able to bring him to some form in Acheron's world. He comes to earth only when Acheron needs the Dark-Hunter's brought to justice.

Dangereuse St. Richard is a young Dark-Hunter compared to those we've met so far. Died during the French Revolution, betrayed by her husband because she was part of the aristocracy, she and her family were killed at the gouillotine. She's also fairly small at 5'4" or so compared to the other Dark-Hunter's we've met thus far. But what she lacks in stature she makes up for with grit, guts and spunk. Concerned that local Dark-Hunter's are turning rogue she isn't so sure she should trust the newcomer to her home who was described to her before she met him right down to the white cashmere coat he wore. He was the judge, jury and executioner of Dark-Hunters and she did not want to see any of her brethren killed.

Alexion has come in part to save his friend from his human life, Kyros, from being led astray by the Daimons and Stryker. He enlists Danger's help and by staying with her grows closer to her. He also reveals more information about Acheron and Simi. We also learn that Simi isn't alone in the world, there are others like her. Alexion only has a set amount of time in a corporeal form to make the judgment he must, he is unprepared to feel the things he does with Danger and for the first time that he can remember is unprepared to leave when his time comes.

The gods are getting restless, in particular the dark ones. Each book is taking us deeper and deeper into the plot. Danger and Alexion's story was an interesting one, it did not end the way I'd anticipated but I was still left satisfied. I rate this book an A.
