No Safe Place by Judy Fitzwater, Silhouette Bombshell #91, May 2006 Rating: B

Another romantic suspense, though the focus really is on the suspense in this one. Professor Elizabeth Larocca finds herself on the run with her college aged daughter, Cara, not certain who exactly she's running from. Her late husband, who's dead body has turned up twice now, was very secretive with his work.

Elizabeth is a quick thinking woman. If I were in trouble I'd want her on my side. The only problem was, wherever she went, whatever she thought of, someone was ahead of her. She couldn't seem to win. The friend she went to for help thinking no one would know of her got dragged into the mess as well. To top it off she had two men claiming to be on her husband's side and that the other man killed him. She's not sure who to trust or what to believe.

Her late husband's career began years ago and is tied in, it turns out, with the mob. Her path takes her to Denver, up to Canada never knowing if the next stop would be her last. She has to face some things from her past, come to terms with the fact that things her husband did were not all that they seemed.

An enjoyable read, kept the reader on edge and wanting to know what would happen next. Who was her husband's killer? Which of the two men were trustworthy? Maybe neither? I liked Elizabeth, liked her smarts and her wit despite stressful circumstances. I rate No Safe Place a B.
