I've decided to review Christine Feehan's Dark series as a whole. I just finished my re-read them #1-current so they're all fresh in my mind. The order is as follows:
DARK PRINCE 8/1999
DARK DESIRE 12/1999
DARK GOLD 4/2000
DARK MAGIC 7/2000
DARK CHALLENGE 11/2000
DARK FIRE 8/2001
»» DARK DREAM 9/2001 (in After Twilight anthology)
DARK LEGEND 1/2002
DARK GUARDIAN 5/2002
DARK SYMPHONY 3/2003
»» DARK DESCENT 5/2003 (in The Only One anthology)
DARK MELODY 11/2003
DARK DESTINY 7/2004
»» DARK HUNGER 9/2004 (in Hot-Blooded anthology)
DARK SECRET 3/2005
DARK DEMON 3/2006

I can't say enough how much I enjoyed Christine Feehan's Dark series. The world she has created, a difference between Carpathians and vampires in particular was fascinating.

There wasn't a hero in the series (so far) that I haven't liked. My favorite was probably Gregori or Falcon, the idea of the journal Falcon left for his lifemate was such a neat twist to his story. I was sorry to see that Falcon and Sara's was one of the short stories in an anthology rather than a full-length book. All the Carpathian men we have been introduced to were worthy of the title hero.

The heroines were intriguing, with the true Carpathian women being my favorites: i.e., Francesca, Savannah, Desari, Syndil, Destiny. The human psychics were interesting, but I found the Carpathina women - and their powers were interesting to explore. I liked them all, though some more than others. I'm not sure, though, if it were me I'd just take some guy's word for it that we were meant to be together as some of those Carpathian men tend to do. My favorite was Francesca, because she was able to stay in hiding for so long and to live among the humans so well.

I like the fact each book stands alone yet there are plots weaved throughout all of the books. Francesca's healing quilts and stained glass make appearances before we even meet her for example. The picture Vikirnoff takes of a woman the vampires are hunting is another example. Feehan weaves plots together well. And I was very impressed with Dark Dream. The end was just incredible. Her books do tend to run toward the steamy side, but they're tastefully done so I never felt like I should wash my mind out with soap after reading them.
