Mind Game by Christine Feehan, Jove, Ghost Walkers #2

I have rarely, if ever, been disappointed with anything put out by Christine Feehan. I was pleased to see her branch out from the Carpathians. Mind Game is offering #2 in the Ghost Walkers series. One thing I like about her books despite the fact they're a part of a series they do stand alone. Sure, it's helpful to have the background of each book but it's not necessary, in my opinion, to get enjoyment out of the story being told.

I enjoyed Nicolas Trevane and Dahlia LeBlanc, the hero and heroine in Mind Game. I always prefer both the hero and heroine to be strong characters that each offer something to the other to make them together even stronger than they are apart.

My only complaint with Mind Game was that I felt there were too many unnecessary sex scenes. I wouldn't mind it so much but Feehan normally accomplishes a good meshing of plot and sex scenes without the sex scenes detracting from the plot. They were by no means offensive, but I just found them distracting and would rather have read about the mystery in the book.

It was nice to see Lily and Ryland from Shadow Game even if it was only briefly. I always get uneasy with series books at how the author will handle interweaving prior characters into a new story without taking the focus away from the hero and heroine in the current storyline. As always, Feehan does a good job of this.

I found Mind Game to be a good read with solid characters and a storyline that while it got a little muddled by the sex scenes at times was solid. Nicolas and Dahlia are certainly a couple to be reckoned with and I look forward to revisiting them in future Ghost Walker books.
